THE ISSUE

Welcome to the first one.

Every Friday, this newsletter does one job: show you what happens when founders stop cold-pitching and start matching.

This week: meet a member, run one partnership play — copy-paste pitch included. Do some founder math that'll change how you see the network. And take one good line with you.

Short read. Real founders. Let's go.

FOUNDER SPOTLIGHT

ScamRank: A Daughter's Mission to Protect Others from Digital Fraud

When Andrea Rogers' mother nearly lost $20,000 to a scam, she tried calling her daughter for guidance. But Andrea was at work, unable to answer. By the time they connected, the damage was already done. That moment of helplessness inspired Rogers to create ScamRank, a scam detection application designed to give people immediate, confident answers when suspicious messages arrive.

Based in the Pacific Northwest but serving users nationwide, ScamRank offers a practical solution to an increasingly urgent problem. The application functions as a digital guardian that people can access anytime from their phone or computer. When a questionable email, text, link, or image appears, users can quickly check it through ScamRank and receive clear guidance using a simple stoplight system: red means stop, yellow signals caution, and green indicates safety.

Instant Answers When They Matter Most

What sets ScamRank apart is both its speed and its educational approach. Users can visit scamrank.com to copy and paste or upload a text message, URL, phone number, or image, for free. They can also simply forward a suspicious email directly to [email protected] right from their email inbox with a paid account and receive an email response back. Within moments, they receive not just a verdict but an explanation of the red flags detected and the patterns recognized.

"You're also learning as you use it," Andrea explains. This combination of immediate protection and ongoing education helps users build confidence in spotting scams themselves, rather than remaining dependent on others for every decision.

The tool was deliberately designed to restore dignity and independence. "I wanted to build a tool that restores dignity and independence, giving vulnerable individuals, aging parents, or anyone unaware of digital red flags an accessible resource to use whenever needed," Rogers says.

Real Protection, Real Results

The impact becomes clear in stories like the user who received what appeared to be a legitimate message from Facebook. Rather than clicking the link and potentially compromising personal information, the user forwarded it to ScamRank and quickly learned it was a phishing attempt. "They were able to calmly understand that it wasn't real and to move on with their day," Rogers recalls.

Behind the scenes, Rogers has built a proprietary language model system that continuously collects and analyzes scam information, including data from the Federal Trade Commission. This substantial technical undertaking ensures that ScamRank stays current with evolving threats and provides reliable intelligence to users and potentially other applications.

Staying Ahead of Emerging Threats

Andrea complements the ScamRank application with ScamBrief, a free weekly newsletter delivered every Tuesday that highlights the latest trending scams. The newsletter keeps subscribers informed about current threats and helps them recognize patterns before encountering them firsthand.

Looking forward, she is exploring deep fake video technology that would allow people to upload videos or images and determine whether they're AI-generated or authentic. This expansion reflects her commitment to addressing the full spectrum of digital deception as technology evolves.

To ensure everyone can evaluate the service, ScamRank includes a free tier supporting up to three monthly scans. Additionally, a family plan protects up to five members, notifying caregivers whenever a covered individual scans a detected scam so they can offer prompt assistance.  Native iPhone and Android applications are nearly ready for launch, which will make the tool even more convenient for on-the-go protection.

For anyone concerned about digital safety, whether for themselves or loved ones, ScamRank provides the immediate support that might not always be available from a phone call. Learn more and start protecting yourself at scamrank.com, or sign up for the free ScamBrief newsletter to stay informed about the latest scam trends.

THE PARTNERSHIP PLAY OF THE WEEK

Your best partner slot is the one you're not using.

Right after someone signs up for your product, they're in the most open state they'll ever be in. They've just decided to try something new. They're looking around for what else they need.

Most founders put nothing there.

Here's the swap: you add a short "Recommended Tools" section — in your welcome email, your onboarding, or a quiet corner of your app. One partner logo. One sentence. One link.

They do the same for you.

That's it. No API. No contract. No revenue share to argue about.

Why it works: it costs you one afternoon and then runs forever. Your partner's product gets introduced by someone their new customer already trusts — you — at the exact moment they're deciding what their stack looks like. You get the same in return.

The pitch. Steal it.

"Our users often need a tool like yours right after they set up our software. If we added you to our 'Recommended Tools' page, would you be open to doing the same for us?"

One rule: don't measure it to death on the first run. You're not testing conversion yet. You're testing whether you both actually follow through.

The small swap is the reference check. Pass it, and the bigger conversation gets easy.

Big partnerships aren't planned into existence. They're upgraded into it.

Run it once. If it works, you'll both know what to ask for next.

Founder Math
“10 founders in a room isn't 10 opportunities. It's 45 possible partnerships. 100 founders? 4,950.”
